Report: Braves sign Jonny Gomes to one-year deal

ed to a one-year, $4 million contract with Atlanta that includes a vesting option for the 2016 season.  Gomes split the 2014 season between the Red Sox and the Athletics. He was traded to Oakland as part of the Jon Lester trade near the deadline in July. He hit .234 with six home runs and 37 RBIs combined.The 34-year-old figures to add veteran leadership and may start the season as part of a left-field platoon with recently signed Zoilo Almonte.The Braves finished 79-83 last season, prompting what many observers consider a rebuild.
