The only other pitcher in the past 30 years to open the season perfect through 13 decisions is Strasburg's teammate Max Scherzer, who started 13-0 while with the Tigers in 2013. Rube Marquard holds the major league record with a 19-0 start for the 1912 Giants. Strasburg unexpectedly found himself in a pitchers' duel Friday against the red-hot Pirates. Third baseman Anthony Rendon made a spectacular over-the-shoulder catch of a fifth-inning foul pop down the left-field line.
